Introduction
Google Stadia is a cloud gaming platform that allows you to instantly play video games on screens you already own. All you need to play is a Google account and a mobile phone, a computer, or a TV with the Google Chromecast Ultra device.
Stadia has two membership versions:
- Stadia Base: a free service that has no monthly installment and allows you to play a few games for free and many other games after purchasing them
- Stadia Pro: a subscription service that costs $9.99/mo and allows you to claim some games at no extra cost and purchase other games with a “pro” discount.
Many people do not know is that Stadia has a selection of games that are completely free, meaning you can directly play them without any credit card at all. The links to play these free games are a bit hidden in their website, but we have collected them here so you can just choose one from the list and enjoy!

Stadia Base
The Stadia Base allows you to stream games up to 1080p at 60fps and play online with your friends without any subscription or recurring fee. In the Stadia base (free tier) version, there are free games like Destiny 2, SuperBomberman R or Crayta that you can directly play without any purchase, and there are also paid games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Read Dead Redemption 2 that you’ll need to purchase to be able to play. Purchasing a game from the free tier means you can play it anytime and there is no need to pay a monthly membership.
Stadia Pro
The Stadia Pro version is a subscription service that costs $9.99/mo and offers a premium Stadia gaming experience with the ability to stream games up to 4k at 60fps with 5.1 surround sound. Another important benefit of the Pro version is the ability to play several more selected games for free as well as exclusive discounts on many other games. If you cancel your Stadia Pro monthly membership you will be downgraded to the Stadia free tier and you will still be able to play anytime the games you have purchased, but you won’t be able to play anymore the Stadia Pro free games that you added to your collection.
Registration without a credit card
Historically the sign-up process on Google Stadia was linked to a subscription and required a payment method added to your Google Account, or asked you to add a credit card information in a mandatory step. But recently they opened the platform by adding a Stadia free tier and you don’t need to subscribe using a credit card anymore.
If you want to register and play without a credit card, instead of clicking the standard Sign-up button, you’ll need to use the direct link of a free to play game in the Stadia free tier. For the moment this is the only method we have found to bypass the standard sign-up process and play games without adding a credit card.
What are the free games on Stadia?
As of May 2021, Destiny 2, SuperBomberman R and Crayta are the only free games you can play in the Stadia free tier, but in the future there might be more.
