Quick answer
As of May 2021 there are no active free Stadia Premiere Edition offers anymore. Google did some special offers of free Stadia Premiere Edition packages to people pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil Village for Stadia, but there were a limited amount of supplies and they ran out very quickly.
More info about it below.
What is the Stadia Premiere Edition bundle?
It is a pack composed of:
- Chromecast Ultra
- Stadia remote controller
The retail cost if you purchase it in the Google Store is $99.99.
You can also find unsealed units selling at much cheaper prices, typically around $60-80 on eBay.
We did a series of pictures of the unboxing if you are curious what’s inside the package.

Why Google is often offering free Stadia Premiere Edition packages?
Since it launched, Google didn’t have it easy to convince gamers to try the Stadia cloud gaming service, so they have been working hard on engaging early adopters and lowering the entrance barrier for a proper Stadia experience.
Although Stadia is actually free in its basic version, it does not allow you to play much without purchasing games. So Google started offering a free month of a Stadia PRO subscription, which has many cool games you can play without paying.
However they soon realised the gaming experience was far from good for the majority of new users, as they were playing the games from their internet browsers without a controller, mostly using the keyboard and mouse setup.
After a bad gaming experience, the ratio of users who never come back is very high, so Google started offering the Stadia Premiere Edition for free in several deals to ensure a significant number of new users have a good gaming experience and they stick with the cloud gaming service. It is indeed a way for Google to better engage early adopters, and ignite a healthy community of gamers that attracts others to join the service.
Free Stadia Premiere Edition deals so far:
- In November 2020 Google offered a Stadia Premiere Edition bundle for free to all YouTube Premium members (non-trial) in the US, Canada, UK, Italy, France and Spain. The promotion lived under this microsite but is now ended.
- Also in November 2020, Google announced it would give a Stadia Premiere Edition pack for free to users pre-ordering or purchasing the game Cyberpunk 2077 for a limited period of time in available countries. Not a bad deal considering the game costs $59.99 and the retail price of the bundle is $99. The promotion was planned to be active until December 17th or until supplies last. The promotion was a big success and quickly ran out of stock, so Google ended it earlier on December 13th.
- In March 2021, Google announced it would give a Stadia Premiere Edition pack for free to users pre-ordering or purchasing the game Resident Evil Village until May 21st, or until supplies last. It was a very good deal considering the game costs $69.99 and the retail price of the Google Premiere Edition bundle is $99. The promotion finished earlier than the end-date as Google ran out of stock of free Stadia premiere edition packages on May 6th.
Conclusion
At this moment there is no active offer. The last one was active for a short period of time, people pre-ordering Resident Evil Village could get a Free Stadia Premiere Edition package but supplies ran out of stock very quickly and Google could only send voucher codes to the people who ordered it before May 6th 2021.
